Therapy that feels true. Rooted in compassion, culture, and faith

Psychotherapy for Muslims, South Asians, and all those seeking holistic, grounded healing—online or in-person from Sydney.

Welcome,

Assalamu Alaikum, and welcome.

You being here matters.

Whether you've been quietly thinking about therapy for a while or you're just starting to explore what healing could look like for you—I'm really glad you’ve found your way here.

My name is Nafisa or Fisa (whatever sticks for you), and I’m a Muslim Bengali psychotherapist based in Sydney.

I offer therapy that is culturally and religiously informed, rooted in real connection and genuine care. I work with both children and adults, online and in-person—because I believe support should feel accessible, personalised, and designed to actually meet you where you are.

You are not broken. You are human. You are capable of healing.

And you are worthy of support that sees you.

I believe in therapy that meets you where you are—not where the system expects you to be. I believe in therapy that feels familiar, safe, and grounded in the realities of your life.

That means creating spaces that are:

- Culturally safe and spiritually aware

- Warm, non-judgemental, and relational

- Rooted in community, justice, and holistic wellbeing

I work with a range of clients, but I have a special place in my heart for those who have felt that therapy “wasn’t made for them.” I’m here to shift that.

I stand in full solidarity with Palestine, and that conviction has inspired me to actively decolonise my practice. I’m committed to unlearning what doesn’t serve our healing and rebuilding practices that honour truth, justice, and the wisdom of our communities.

I’m walking this path with my colleague and friend Freya, a fellow psychotherapist training in Gestalt therapy, and together we’re exploring new ways of doing this work—with integrity, courage, and care.

For clients who prefer it, I’m also learning to incorporate Islamic psychotherapy into sessions, weaving together spiritual insight with psychological support—so healing feels aligned with your faith and your fitrah.

What I

Stand For

Ready to begin—or just exploring?

Whether you're ready to book or just want to chat about what therapy could look like, I’d love to connect.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. We can begin from exactly where you are.

My Journey

I started my journey in the world of mental health by studying a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the Australian Catholic University (ACU). While psychology gave me valuable insight, I often felt something missing—something more human, more relational, more heart-centred.

That missing piece led me to pursue a Master of Psychotherapy and Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP)—and that’s where everything shifted.

Psychotherapy and counselling didn’t just help me understand others—it helped me understand myself.

The more I learned, the more I grew. I began to heal parts of myself I had long neglected, and I saw, up close, the life-changing power of being truly witnessed and held with compassion.

In my placement, I felt it in my bones: this is my calling.

This isn’t just a profession for me—it’s a purpose. I’m here to create a space where people, especially those who’ve never seen themselves reflected in mainstream mental health spaces, finally feel like they belong.

You deserve therapy that honours your story, your culture, your faith, and your humanity.

The human behind the therapist.

I’m often described as gentle, grounding, and easy to open up to. But I also bring energy, humour, honesty, and heart. My clients feel safe not because I have all the answers, but because I’m real—I meet you with presence, not pretence.

For those curious about personality types, I’m an ENFP—curious, creative, and deeply values-driven. My temperament more often leans towards sanguine and phlegmatic, which means I bring warmth, steadiness, and hope to the work.

I'm also a recovering people-pleaser, learning—like many of you—how to choose myself without guilt, speak up with courage, and live more truthfully. That journey continues.

Outside of therapy, I’m a creative soul and a bit of a hobby collector (aren’t we all?). These days, I’m keeping it simple and nourishing with:

- Watercolouring

- Creative Journalling & planning

- Reading

- Caring for my indoor plant mini-jungle

I’m also raising a lively toddler while running my own private practice, so I deeply understand how layered and overwhelming life can be. Just showing up takes strength—and I honour that strength in you.

My Approach

Therapy with me is

- Grounded in connection, compassion and curiosity

- Centred on *you*—your pace, your story, your needs

- A safe space to explore faith, identity, trauma, relationships, and life transitions

- Rooted in both humanistic and spiritually aligned approaches

Whether you're navigating grief, anxiety, intergenerational pain, self-doubt, burnout, or just feeling disconnected from yourself—I’m here to hold space for you. With gentleness, clarity, and deep trust.

You won’t be rushed. You won’t be judged. And you won’t be told to “just think positive.”

You will be heard. You will be honoured. You will be supported.
